Description[?]:

The SUPREME COURT ACT is a Constitutional Act requiring 2/3 of the legislature to vote in favour.

It shall have the following articles:

1. There shall be a SUPREME COURT OF PONTESI

2. It shall be the role of the court to interpret the law of the land. The court may not make new law or seek to overturn existing laws. The Parliament remains absolutely sovereign.

3. The court shall have FIVE members who shall be titled Supreme Court Justices

4. Voting on the court shall be by majority vote. Where the vote is indecisive due to a seat being empty or a justice abstaining the Justice Minister shall have the decisive vote.

5. Justices shall serve a fixed term of five parliamentary terms. Immediately following each parliamentary election the longest serving justice shall resign.

6. If a party which appointed a Justice ceases to exist then that Justice shall resign. Justices shall not otherwise be permitted to resign.

7. When a vacancy in the court arises (either due to retirement or the party which nominated them ceasing to exist) the President of the Country shall appoint a replacement.

8. Justices may remain members of the party which nominated them and remain answerable to (OOC: voting controlled by) that party, but they are expected to exercise their powers and interpret the law in good faith.

9. At the time of the establishment of the court the members shall be:
A. [PPPP nominee] who shall retire at the first election following this law passing
B. [Communist Party nominee] who shall retire at the second election
C. [PPPP nominee] who shall retire at the third election
D. Mr Ghssan Kadirov of the Ahmadi Front who shall retire at the fourth election
E. Mr Henricus Helabyan of the Conservative Alliance who shall retire at the fifth election
