ToDebating the Union with Hutori Act 43??
MessageOOC: This will be put to vote at the same time as the "OOC: Reforming Luthori" bill, following the upcoming election. We urge all parties to back personal union with Hutori. We will retain our independence and autonomy, while we will gain a valuable and powerful ally. Hutori is one of Particracy's world powers and is on the Security Council, and is close allies with Kazulia, another world power. The Hutorian monarch will be represented in Luthori by an elected Governor-General.

Alduria, which we were in a personal union with and had an arrangement with similar to what's being proposed here, has shown interest in joining. This is a step towards Luthori taking its place as a major power on the world stage once more.

MessageMr. Speaker,

The SDU will support this bill and urge other parties to back it too. This would significantly raise Luthori's profile on the international stage and would strengthen our great nation. By building bridges and close relations with the like of Hutori and Kazulia we can restore our former glory and put ourselves back on the map.

In addition, we firmly support the elected Governor-General position included in these proposals. In this regard, Luthori would benefit not only from Sarah IV on the throne, but also by having their own democratically-elected representative. Republicans and democrats should rally behind this proposal.

This is a move which would bring our country and people across Terra together.

ToDebating the Union with Hutori Act 43??
MessageOOC: A representative to the monarch was instated many in-game years ago, known as the Imperial Vice-Roy, as a compromise between the country's republicans and monarchists. As it turns out, the compromise actually ended up being better than both sides original main ambitions, with the Vice-Roy system having the extra role play and stakes up for grabs that a republic would have, whilst still keeping the country's culture in tact. I think it would be an excellent idea to revive a similar system to this, hence I fully back this reform.

Messagethe republican party approves this proposal but is keen to let it be known that the idea of abolishing the monarchy and its replacement with a republic truly in the hands of the people does not put it aside.

ToDebating the Union with Hutori Act 43??
MessageThe Luthori People's Party does approve this proposal but only because we see no other option to continually be a monarchy. Further, we hope this change will make The Holy Luthori Empire the powerful nation that it once was and deserves to be.

MessageMr Speaker,

Not many years ago, Luthori served as a sitting member of the World Congress Security Council and led the international arena against slavery in Vorona and Kalopia. We also became a leading power through the NTO.

We do not need to subjugate ourselves to a foreign Throne, and we do not need to give ourselves over to a Governor-General either. We can rise in stature and glory alone, by our own devices, decisions and action.

MessageMr. Speaker,

Do the RCP disagree that bringing ourselves closer to key friends and allies like Hutori and Kazulia - both of which are major powers - would improve Luthori's standing in the world? If so, what does the RCP propose?

Luthori and Hutori have a deep and historical relationship, not only between the two states but between the people who live in both countries. It would be a missed opportunity to reject this proposal, and to miss out on the benefits of having a democratically-elected Luthorian representative in the future.

MessageMr Speaker,

The RCP disagree with losing sovereignty when we do not need to. Luthori was great and important on the world stage without this Union 100 years ago and can be again.

We have been and are friends with Hutori, this would not change regardless of who sits on the throne.

Random fact: When it comes to creating a Cultural Protocol in a Culturally Open nation, players are not necessarily required to provide a plausible backstory for how the nation's cultural background developed. However, the provision of a plausible backstory may be a factor in whether Moderation approves the Cultural Protocol if players in surrounding nations question its appropriateness for their region of the game map.
