Bill: Convict Voting Reform Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Kalistani Union of Democratic Socialists
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: January 4335
Description[?]:
Recognizing that under current law a released convict must wait a certain amount of time before being able to vote again, and seeing that if a convict has been released then they have been deemed rehabilitated under Kalistani law, and also seeing as the right to vote is the cornerstone of a democratic society, this bill make it so that convicts would be able to vote directly after being released from prison, restoring democracy and fairness. |

Message | We disagree with this idea. Some criminals need time to reintergrate before they have the right to vote. As harsh as it sounds, it is very true. These people could end up pressured into voting for a radical party. I just think time is key. Not just that but I believe this would scrap an important deterrent. |

Message | Convicts don't make up a significant enough percentage of the population to influence politics and put in power a "radical party". This bill is just giving convicts back a fundamental democratic right. |

Message | You’re right but one vote can make all the change. |
