MessageMdm. Speaker

While we support the creation of a National Health Care Authority and support the creation of federally regulated and controlled hospitals we do not believe the Private Sector should be cut out of these decisions and should be given the leeway to establish their own medical facilities along with facilities underneath Provincal and Municipal Control.

We can not support this Bill but will introduce out alternative.

MessageMadam Speaker,

We must agree with the Royalists on this. When I was given the opportunity to once again be the Minister of Health and Social Services, one of my goals was to create a national health care system. As this is an important issue that both of our parties agree on, it is something this government will work tirelessly to implement. But as the Royalists also said, we must allow for the private sector to provide an alternative to the public system.

Minister of Health and Social Services
