Message | Oppose, again. We do not want a population that may have an unfair amount of education based on the amount of resources their "local government" has. |
Date | 01:12:50, March 05, 2006 CET | From | Iqembu Sokusebenzisana Yeningi | To | Debating the School Choice Act of 2194 |
Message | That much is worrying; however, the alternative is national regulation of education, which ought to be locally controlled. Would the Ultamist Party consider supporting this if the provision regarding charter schools were removed? |
Date | 03:23:25, March 05, 2006 CET | From | New Democratic Party | To | Debating the School Choice Act of 2194 |
Message | We oppose, agreeing with the Ultamist Party. And as regards Article 3, we believe that this basic knowledge is absolutely essential in the education system. We need sexual education, for the public good, because it's so important that everyone knows how to use contraceptives, how to prevent STDs, and to be taught the very basic facts of life. The NDP is all for choice, but not privatisation. A variety of curricula can be accomodated in the publicly-funded system. Additionally, I'm sure parents would want to know that their nursery had oversight by the authorities, it's just more peace of mind in that case. If anything goes wrong you also know who to complain to. |

Message | We absolutely agree with the NDP, and will oppose all three articles. |

Message | I do agree having more schools is always a good thing, but I also think keeping the educational system under national control is a good idea. The financial state of one region or even its morals may change the education its students receive. Every Ikradonian is expected to have the same basic education and the best way to ensure that is to make sure everyone is given the same oppurtunity. |

Message | Now that the cabinet situation has resolved, we submit this bill to the National Assembly for a vote. |
