Description[?]:
Quirites, The highest glory a citizen can obtain is to die in battle for the Republic. However, we in the Republican Party know that war is hell, that it destroys families and communities and leads to a decline in Republican values and virtues. Which is why we propose the destruction of the military-industrial complex that has taken over our Republic and shifted power away from citizens to the defense industries. A Republican army is one formed of committed and virtuous citizens, who in a chaotic international environment are prepared to lay their life for the Republic and their compatriots, but who also refrain from military adventurism and take up arms only when strictly necessary and the Republic itself is under threat. We also propose that the Republic renounce cowardly and dishonorable military practices such as weapons of mass destruction. There is no honor to be gained with these, no eternal glory on the battlefield, only death and destruction. To the old tyrannical saying "Vae Victis" we honorably respond "Gloria Victis!" Message | While we also do not want to use nuclear weapons and the like, we are not going to just let other nations use them on us and not retaliate because 'there is no glory in that'. It's like choosing a sword over a gun when the other person has a gun. Though we don't we will be nuked anytime soon if ever, you never know. |

Message | Quirites, One either uses nuclear weapons at the beginning of a conflict or not at all. The whole "we're not doing this unless you do it first" line of thought is just a flimsy excuse for the development of nuclear weapons when we have no need for them, and the only thing we accomplish is military posturing that will make conflict more, not less likely. Random fact: Parties have the ability to endorse another party's candidate for the Head of State election (if there is one). This adds a strategic element to the elections. |
