MessageMr Speaker,

It is a great pleasure to stand here today and propose this new taxation system. We have increased the personal income tax threshold to 20,000 HLR meaning more Hutorians will not have to pay income tax. We have also lowered the tax on the lowest bracket by 4%, and lowered each of the other brackets by 3%. This means all Hutorians get to keep more of their hard earned money.

MessageMr Speaker,

I can appreciate the right honourable gentleman's position on lifting the tax burden on the citizens of Hutori, but we have to consider the heavy deficit of 1 Billion HLR. Unless we want to consider ourselves under heavy foreign strain with parties burdened with increasing debt, we should consider try to close this deficit before it becomes a greater problem. And could it not be argued that, with a Cabinet that took 3 proposals and 2 years of a 4 year term to form, that a possible socialist victory in the next election is why the Conservative Party is trying to gain favour with a budget that could see itself revoked in 2 years time.

MessageMr Speaker,

I thank the honorable member for her concern regarding the deficit and recognizing that Hutori must balance the budget. If the member would take a look at our budget proposal and do some simple math, she would know that we will actually be left with a surplus of approximately 600 million HLR. This budget is something we have been fighting for for decades now.

MessageMr Speaker,

How can the member opposite say that taxes are much too low? Can he seriously look a citizen of this nation in their face and tell them that they do not pay enough tax? Especially one of the citizens we are relieving of paying income tax at all to allow them to put food on the table and a roof over their heads?
