Details

Description[?]:

Nasennian Law on Pornography

Senators,

It is a great shame for the entire Selucian body politic that the destructive scourge of pornography has not only been legalized but has been granted the same status as any legitimate business. Pornography clearly is not a legitimate expression of the freedom of speech, but rather a harmful practice that reduces women to objects of sexual desire, imposes unhappiness and pain and semi-consensual if not downright nonconsensual sex, and has created a breed of entitled and resentful young men, frustrated that real women do not meet every sexual fantasy that they have come to expect. That pornography is somehow an expression of free-speech is a silly canard promoted by the pornography industry and demanded by sexually frustrated young men. So we call on the Senate to do the decent thing and liberate Selucian men and women alike from this scourge.

Anyone who does not support this bill is accountable for every citizen led down the dark path of sexual deviancy if it fails to pass.

MessageWe have it now that all pornography is consensual, some even aspire to do it, and to ban it would be removing a lot of jobs. Those same sexually frustrated young men you talk about are now going to turn to more unsafe and possibly even illegal ways. All in all this seems to have no positives.

Every day we seem to have more reason to distance ourself from the right and become more centrist.

MessageSenators,

Pornography is institutionalized misogyny. The most popular acts depicted in pornography, such as multiple penetration, are profoundly degrading to women. Even if all parties consent to these acts, which in the age of internet pornography is nearly impossible to verify, these acts are not something to be aspired to. They are nothing more or less than hatred of women, and young boys are ritualized in this institutional misogyny from as young as eleven if not younger, becoming eager perpetrators of misogynistic practices they learn online.

And whether banning pornography will lead to more illegal and dangerous acts, we instead argue that its very presence causes several such actions. Porn is imitated in nearly half of all sex crimes investigated according to some reports, meaning that pornography is training material for violent sexual deviants. But even if one could argue that pornography is a necessary evil, that its existence does not lead to more sexual crimes and its absence would lead to unpredictable consequences, this is not an evil that should be easily accessible to every willing and oftentimes unwilling viewer. A society where pornography has become the norm, where restricting it is viewed as an assault on free speech by even self-proclaimed conservatives is not a free society. It is a society of slaves to passion, beholden to their basest instincts and not willing to engage in self-reflection and self-criticism. I for one do not wish to live in a slave society, and we hope neither does the honorable Imperial Senator.
