Message | Mariama Darboe, Leader of the Opposition, former Deputy Chief and Foreign Minister: Mr. Speaker, The NDP condemns the abandonment of our brethren in Stratica. As a member of the international coalition we have the opportunity to dismantle the Medinese imperial war machine that has struck Utembo, Tropica, and Stratica. The NDP encourages the government to reconsider it position carefully, especially given the fact that the Medinese state is on the brink of defeat. Leaving the war effort would abandon the intentional coalition and deprive Talmoria of our seat at the negotiating table. Need we remind the government that if the Medinese were not halted at the Utemban demilitarised zone in the first war they would have entered Talmoria itself. However, it would also weaken Talmoria’s role on the international stage. Talmoria has been the defender of south Dovani sovereignty since time immemorial. We implore the governemnt to think deeply about its actions and how our neighbors will react if we retreat from the world. |

Message | Albert Steiner, Minister for Foreign Affairs If Medina wishes to make war, let its forces crash upon the rocky shores that await imperialism. But let our young men and women not meet the same fate. The former governing party speaks of coalitions, of negotiations, and of the world stage. But what I hear are promises of empire, of pillage, and of posturing. Talmoria was never a party to this war, and our young will pay dearly for it as is. Let us engage the world in peace, not in aggression and violence. Let us be a nation with many friends and no enemies. Let us end this war. |

Message | Mr. Speaker, We do not believe you understand the implications of withdrawal. Talmoria is the defender of the Esinsundu people. Our people have been forced into slavery for eons under the whips of the white Artanian colonisers and Kalkalk overlords. How dare you suggest that this fight is not ours. How dare you suggest we abandon our brethren when we know they would never abandon us. If death is he price to pay for out people freedom than it is a price worth paying. Better dead that in chains! While I certainly did not expect your party to have much knowledge of Dovanian and Esinsundu geopolitics, I did not expect your party to be woefully unprepared and naive. If our forefathers, who fought off the gains of slavery and struggled through the humiliation of apartheid, could see your cowardice they’d turn in their graves. Message | Albert Steiner, Minister for Foreign Affairs If we are unprepared and naive, so too are the Talmorian people who elected those coalition understanding perfectly our position on the war. If we have defensive obligations to allies, we will fulfill them. If refugees come to our borders, we will welcome them with open arms. But this is not a war in defense of anyone - it is a war of retribution, conquest, and regime change. It is a politics that the people of this nation have wearied of. They wish for a reset, and we are sworn to deliver it. |

Message | Moniade Richland, Party Leader of the Black Bloc Mr. Speaker, I would caution the former Foreign Minister of being unprepared and naive. It is the voice and the position of the Minister's party that appears to have won him the support of the people of this country. I believe that elections have consequences and this is certainly one of them. Further, I would suggest to the member that if their view is to prevail it shouldn't be backed by thinly-veiled insults. We're certainly open to hearing arguments to continue a conflict if they're rational and logical as opposed to one that is angry about no longer being in charge. For instance, I ask the member opposite what we expect to "get" from completing this war as part of a coalition. If we should be at the peace table, what are we expecting to gain? |

Message | My fellow colleagues, I believe that I have explained my positions sufficiently. If we withdraw from Medina it constitutes the abandonment of fellow Esinsundu peoples and countries. What we 'get', if one chooses to frame it as such, is the guarantee that no nation will threaten our brethren to the south for the coming decades. As the most powerful Esinsundu nation on the Dovanian continent and the Eastern hemisphere it is our sacred duty to defend the Esindunu people from slavery and destruction. Furthermore, the coalition's purpose is to defend Stratica from Medinese aggression, part of the international system that prevents wars of expansion. It is Talmoria's responsibility to fulfill its international obligations. If you believe in rewards for just Talmoria as a result of defending southern Dovani, than you're scope is too limited. We are talking about international peace and ensuring that states do not feel that they can violate another states sovereignty and walk away free. We are talking about human decency and protection of human rights. We are talking about the long history our people have had with enslavement and our desperate need to show the world that they cannot continue its vile treatment of Esinsundu people. As we speak... as you withdraw from Medina, Saridan has already re-legalized slavery; possibly in anticipation of our army's withdrawal. My dear colleagues, the purpose of this war was never material. What could we gain from Medina other than reparations for the mass influx of refugees over the last decade? This war is about preventing the normalization and expansion of the most vile human practice, slavery. Furthermore, I apologize if you feel insulted by my comments, however, if you're so easily insulted I suggest you look into other professions. Mariama Darboe Leader of the Opposition |

Message | Moniade Richland, Party Leader of the Black Bloc Mr. Speaker, I only ask what we "get" at the victory table because it was one of the apparently ill-informed arguments of the former Minister, whose clear way with words and diplomacy were rewarded with a rather embarrassing defeat in the most recent election. Well, but there we are. |

Message | Olufemi Boro, General Secretary of the ATCS "Better dead than in chains! How easy such bombast must come to you Madam Darboe from your position of safety here in the capital. But what of the working classes whose members fill the levies that are leashed to our war machine and hurled across the borders? They are not fighting and dying to stay out of chains, Madam. You could make an argument, perhaps, that South Utembo should be liberated from the clenched fist of the Sultan - I would not, but one could. But that in no way justifies the further invasion of Medina itself and the near sacking of its capital! Are the working people of Talmoria and Medina, the ones who suffer the most, served well by this war? Absolutely not. They fight and claw their way for a better life, but the leaders of the National Democratic Party would throw that life away in an unnecessary war. Let us call this cease fire, negotiate an armistice, and wind down the war machine that does nothing but consume the lives of the proletariat in both nations." |

Message | Medina will not agree to negotiate, at least not now. Negotiation and peace was tried, and it failed. I do not need a lecture on it as I, in my capacity as the Foreign Minister, negotiated the peace that Medina broke only five years later. If you truly believe that Medina will abide by the peace this time, then go ahead and sign it. However, as the head of the Foreign Ministry for over two decades, I do not see a pathway to peace that Medina will respect at the moment. If you can reconcile your conscience with the abandonment of our brethren who have shared the same struggles, then sign it. I believe I have exhausted my options in regard to this issue. Message | Albert Steiner, Minister for Foreign Affairs, And if the Opposition can reconcile its own conscience with thousands of boys and girls dead in the name of global politics, peace be with her I suppose. But I cannot. This party will not. If it should come to war with Medina, we will be prepared to defend our own people. But our military exists for our defense - not conquest, pillage, and empire. |

Random fact: Cabinet ministers who disagree seriously with the head of government would usually be expected to resign. Parties within the cabinet may attempt to manoeuvre to replace the head of government though, for example by proposing a new cabinet bill or voting for an early election. |
