Message | Yes but local fire departments are better suited to combat all other types of fires. What’s more common, house/industry fires or forest fires? Plus, local fire departments in forest fire areas would have equipment better suited to fight forest fires. |

Message | Local fire departments simply would not have the necessary manpower at their disposal to fight forest fires without having to go through an excessive bureaucracy. |

Message | Who’s to say they wouldn’t? Fighting forest fires is a long drawn out task, however, its not really an "emergency." Local departments would have the same problem a national department would in moving personnel and equipment. Luckily, forest fires are usually contained to specific regions. They don’t just happen anywhere. The local governments in those regions could be given additional funding for the purpose of fighting forest fires. In fact, if a local department had the necessary equipment on hand to fight a forest fires, it would be far more efficient then going through a federal agency. A large agency would have more internal bureaucracy then a small local government |

Message | I oppose because forest fires require a co-ordinated national effort, and we all know trees are more important than half the people who burn up in fires every year. |
