Message | Mr Speaker While we would like to see abortion only in medical emergencies, we recognise that the other parties in the house hold different views regarding this matter. We are willing to make a compromise and restrict abortions to the first trimester. While this is still murder in the view of the National Reform Party as there is no legitimate reason to terminate the life of the child, we aim at the very least to protect the lives further along the pregnancy stages. In addition, the National Reform Party proposes to cut funding so that only low-income earners will be given support. We must address the budget issues and we believe this is an effective way to do so as we should not be funding abortions to people who can afford this. Kathlyn Montgomery MP for Arana Deputy Parliamentary Leader of the National Reform Party Health and Social Services Spokesperson |

Message | Mr Speaker, On behalf of the entire Conservative Caucus, we applaud the Reform Party for bringing forward this bill. We believe that there is a point during the pregnancy that abortion becomes unethical. Restricting to the first trimester would be ethical in our ciew. Also, we agree that only low-income citizens should have their abortions funded. If you have the money to terminate your pregnancy, we believe you should have to pay. Brett Martin MP for Wrightstown Opposition Justice Critic Chairmen of the Royalist Party Conservative Caucus |
Date | 14:46:15, May 11, 2018 CET | From | New Liberal Party of Hutori | To | Debating the Reform Party Bill 32 - Abortion Restriction |
Message | Mr. Speaker, The New Liberals believe that Abortions should be safe, legal, and rare. We support Article 1, but do not support Article 2 - as reducing funding for abortions may put the lives of women in danger. Furthermore, Article 2 would require a comprehensive policy proposal to means test every woman seeking an abortion. By the time that means-testing is over, the third trimester may have passed. We cannot support this bill, and will propose competing legislation that includes Article 1, but not Article 2. Russell Selwyn MP for Sutton East Parliamentary Leader of the New Liberals |

Message | Mr. Speaker Means testing would already be conducted by low income individuals as they would already be receiving social benefits in other forms that are also means tested, therefore making them also eligible for government funded abortions. The member for Sutton East should look at actually checking before spitting out ignorant comments just in your spiteful attempts to block our agenda. Fredrick Stanton MP for Fairfield Justice Spokesperson for the National Reform Party |
Date | 16:57:38, May 11, 2018 CET | From | New Liberal Party of Hutori | To | Debating the Reform Party Bill 32 - Abortion Restriction |
Message | Mr Speaker, The Member for Fairfield again confuses a reasonable question on a matter of policy for spite. Perhaps if he was not so fixated my opinion of him and the Reform Party, he might actually concern himself with matters of creating good public policy on behalf of the people of Hutori. One can examples of dependent young women being cast out by their families when they become pregnant - especially if the pregnancy is out of wed-lock. Those women would not have a history of receiving social benefits, and due to their previous dependent status may not qualify under current policy. Yet clearly these abandoned young women are deserving of our support. The process to qualify for social benefits may take some time, pushing the pregnancy past the first trimester. By the time the baby is born, the state will be responsible for two new mouths to feed, not just one. Until he can convince me otherwise, the MP for Fairfield and his Party will not get New Liberal support on this bill. Russell Selwyn MP for Sutton East Parliamentary Leader of the New Liberals |

Message | Mr. Speaker The National Reform Party does concern itself with creating public policy which benefits Hutori citizens, for the MP of Sutton East to claim otherwise is outrageous. In those sorts of cases, the Social Services and Health departments are and always have been able to make exceptions which would assist those who have been abandoned. Maybe in future talk with the Department of Social Services before spitting out ignorant comments. Fredrick Stanton MP for Fairfield Justice Spokesperson for the National Reform Party |
