MessageMr Speaker,

The Conservative Caucus will only support this bill if articles 1 and 3 are removed. We will not support such a drastic increase in the luxury goods tax, and also will not support any increase in our corporate tax which is already too high.

MessageMr Speaker,

We are happy with sales taxes at the level they currently are. We would prefer the next tax bill for which we vote to be comprehensive tax reform which would simplify our income tax brackets. The New Liberals' preferred platform at this time would be to have essential sales tax at 5%, corporate tax at 17%, and luxury goods at 20%. We will push for that outcome in future governments.
