Bill: Increase Education Requirement
Details
Submitted by[?]: Intellectual Revolution Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: February 2201
Description[?]:
In this ever-advancing world it is necessary to have a proper education, and the speed at which Ikradon and the rest of the world are growing and changing it is becoming necessary to have a little more than what is commonly considered a "proper education". Therefore, IRP proposes raising the amount of time Ikradonians must spend in school, thereby assuring Ikradon is not left behind in this fact-paced world. Education is the building block of success, and we can't let Ikradon miss out on the oppurtunity to prove itself as an intellectual power. Besides, won't we all be happy knowing the children of Ikradon are more intelligent? |

Message | The DFLI believes the economy will best be served by allowing students to make informed choices about their own futures. We also oppose this bill, but would support, through guidance counseling, intensive school involvement in students' decisions on whether to continue their education past the age of 16. We also will oppose any initiative to deny free education before the age of 18. |

Message | "Young adults who are forced to attend school will get nothing out of it if they do not wish to be there. We oppose." Worst. They will cause disturbances at the schools and create obstacles on their collegues education. |

Message | It is true that students may not like going to school for two more years. But think about one thing. Would they like being unemployed? The point IRP is trying to get across is that the world is demanding a higher education to succeed. The mind is quickly overtaking the body, if it has not already done so, as the most important thing employers look for when deciding who gets a job. Having a strong mind is not only helpful, but essential in the world of today. |

Message | We cannot support focing a 16 year old to attend school if they wish it otherwise. Some students need a cold hard look at the real world before they can appreciate the value of schooling. While we should allow them to return to finish their schooling in some way, we do not think we should hold them against their wishes. ---Stephanie Applegate, UPI Education Advisor |
