It is illegal to fertilize eggs for the sole purpose of producing stem cells.

It is illegal to offer remuneration of any kind for fertilized eggs.

Article 4
Research using embryonic or fetal stem cells is strictly regulated.
(i) The Department of Health and Social Services appoints a board consisting of scientists and ethicists to
oversee research - Stem Cell Research Overview Board (SCROB)
(ii) Research is only legal with a licence issued by the SCROB.
(iii) All applications for licences are sent to peer-review before the SCROB makes its decisions.
