Message | Mr. Speaker, Long-term sustainability is essential to any civilization. At the same time, one must balance sustainability with growth. Pollution control must be adequate to protect environmental quality, including air, water, light, and noise sources. At the same time, a degree of temporary environmental destruction is unavoidable in urban development. We agree that governments and private enterprises alike must be pushed to invest in innovative solutions to promote sustainable development and help reduce our impact on the environment. Market approaches such as cap and trade particularly should be utilized. We Scientians fully agree with the scientific consensus on global warming and in fact many of our people are involved in the study and reduction of it.
