Message | Mr Speaker I wish to raise the issue of the current governments policy regarding the treatment of prisoner's of war. The current law as it stands calls for us to treat PoWs according to the laws of the captor power, while the majority of nations in Terra meet humane and internationally acceptable standards, a few such as the Republic of Saridan and Ewiges Thalleristisches Reich von Narikaton have abhorrent laws which allow for the mistreatment and execution of PoWs. Regardless of a PoW being the enemy of our nation, the National Party will not partake in war-crimes, nor should any party in this chamber endorse the mistreatment of our PoWs. As an ex-serviceman, I would find it abhorrent to be mistreated purely on the basis for fighting for the wrong country. Message | Mr Speaker, I must applaud the honorable member from Dalry North for bringing this bill forward. The current law would allow for mistreatment of PoWs, and the committing of war crimes, which in my opinion is just unHutorian. The Conservative Caucus will support this bill, and I would encourage the rest of the government to support it as well. Message | Mr. Speaker, Hutori can best serve the world when it leads, rather than follows. Let us lead the world to more fair treatment of POWs by passing this bill. Peter Knox MP for Axminster South Parliamentary Leader of the New Liberals |

Random fact: When you join the game, you will find yourself with only zero seats. That's because your party's representatives haven't been elected yet. You need to establish your party's position on issues by proposing several bills that your party wants passed and sending them to vote. This raises your visibility and if you do it enough, you will win seats at the next election. |
