MessageMr. Speaker,

Again we ask this house, what is an UNREASONABLE strike? Until someone can write in legislation all those reasons deemed unreasonable, we will never support a bill with this language.

MessageMr Speaker,

Reasons deemed "unreasonable" obviously will change over time, and depend significantly in context. Therefore to combat this, we will set up a Fair Work Commission in response to the passing of this bill, in which all employers must file their reasons for dismissal of an employee after a strike to the FWC. The employee also has the ability to appeal this firing on appeal to the FWC. If the FWC does find the reason for firing to be unreasonable, the employer shall be found liable for unfair dismissal and subject to penalties.

I hope this outline will convince the New Liberals to support this bill. The Nationals want to give the power to both employer and employee as currently it is too heavily slanted to the employees, which drives down incentives for companies to hire and invest in Hutori
