| Madam Speaker, We put forward this act to make sure that our military operates in a way that most optimally protects the ordinary Baltusian, both on and off the battlefield. As such, we think we should not be putting Baltusian women in harm's way. The wonderful women of this country deserve to have some protection from the horror of war. As such, we are proposing that women serve in the wonderful work they do, but do not take combat roles. Additionally, we want to make sure that sexuality does not become an issue in military units. As such, we are proposing a "don't ask, don't tell" policy. Finally, we want to restore the ability for our Secretary of Defense to organize units in ways that benefit the country. As such, we are proposing to restore the Secretary of Defense's power over selecting unit leaders. We welcome debate on this bill. |

| Message | Madam Speaker, The gentleman from the Republican Party is off base by even bringing this bill up. This is almost Neanderthalic for it to be proposed. I served with some of the toughest women in our nation and some of the finest homosexuals. Under the proposed law if for whatever reason someone who was homosexual were to be outed they would be kicked out of our great military. And the notion that Women cannot handle combat roles is such an outdated way to think. For a party that wants to rapidly expand our military force maybe you should try to be a little more inclusive rather than turn the military into your old boys club. We are not worried about women "handling" combat roles, we are concerned about what the enemy will do to women in combat roles. Baltusians have noble values in war, but not all nations treat combatants with the same respect. We also do not want LGBT individuals kicked out of the military. We want to abolish sexuality as a factor in general. |

| Message | Madam Speaker, The language of our colleague’s proposal clearly states the homosexuality will not be “tolerated”. What exactly does he think is gonna happen if a troop is outed? And I understand his thinking on women in combat roles but I still disagree. These women who sign up for the combat roles are tough as nails and are meant to be in combat positions. All of our troops are trained to combat our enemies and our military does a damn good job at training the troops. This is simply the Republican Parties attempt at telling grown, adult women to run along and leave the fighting to the men. Furthermore, nothing about this bill has my support and I know many in the military who feel the same way. It’s funny how you Republicans are small government all the way but when it comes to the military you want to tell the troops when, where and how to live their lives and do their jobs when they been doing a damn fine job of doing their jobs without you getting involved. |

Baltusia has evolved on these topics, we've had these conversations and we made it clear: Equality in Baltusia must be a priority. | Message | Madam Speaker, This bill limits the amount of people that are able to serve their country. On the battlefield, these lines are blurred. It is a matter of your fellow comrades fighting against a common enemy. It seems clear that the nationalists want to instill a long dead sense of a man's war. This is the modern age. Everyone is entitled to defend their home, whether they are gay, or a woman. We will strongly oppose this legislation when it is brought before Congress.
