Currently, our nation depends entirely on unregulated and privately owned industries for its defence industries. If the government subsidised these industries, it would help them develop better products and give Darnussia more control over its defence industries.

MessageDefense industries don't need subsidies. They are doing fine and well and shouldn't be treated higher than the other industries.

MessagePDA, we may not be a military superpower (I can't really think of any superpowers in Terra, really, because no one nation is extremely powerful), but our armies should be well-equipped and financed by the government to defend our great nation. These private defence industries are unreliable and aren't necessarily loyal to Darnussia. Subsidies give our nation more control over these industries, as we would control a portion of their funding.

LBSC, we are not saying that they should be treated higher than the other industries. We are saying that all of our nation's industries should strive to do well. If the government approves of a certain important industry and that industry has been fairly successful, the government could reward them with subsidies.

MessageI actually agree with the LBSC on this matter. As we have already tried to raise this issue previously, concerning nuclear defence, the last thing on our agenda is to be perceived as a military superpower.

What we should be doing is investing in means that work towards DISARMING nations through a treaty, not using government funds to assist in the improvement of our defence capabilities, we should be doing the opposite, working towards a peaceful future.

MessageWhat I'm really trying to do is not necessarily increase our emphasis on the defence industry, but to reign in the private companies and give the government some amount of control over them. Government subsidies would be one way to do that.
