Voting deadline: November 4495

In order to build a republic, all citizens must feel equal conditions. Selfishness, however, means that those people who hold noble titles can consider themselves, by owning them, above the rest of citizens.

MessageSenators,

I wish to draw attention to the fact that this bill is unconstitutional and a grave breach of the principle of separation of powers. Under the Law of the Rector of the Republic the executive may not introduce legislation, that prerogative rests exclusively with the Senate. I call on the Princeps Senatus to enforce the constitutional procedures of the Senate and defend the legislative's independence from executive encroachment.

Helena Romilia Nennia
Dux Oppositionis

MessageSenators,

As correctly pointed by Hon. Dux Oppositionis Romilia Nennia, this bill shall have been proposed by any member of this Senate. Therefore, the proposed law will be renamed as "Lex Moraitia de Nobilitatis Titulus" and will be defended in my name, at the proposal of the Rector of Selucia.

Irus Moraiti
Princeps Senatus

OOC: Shall we include then the Administrative Section under Law on the Rector?

MessageOOC: What do you mean? Like an amendment of the Rector law that includes who has the right of initiative? I think the current law is pretty straightforward that the Rector can't propose bills:

"IX) In order to ensure a complete separation of powers between the executive and the legislature, no member of the government - cabinet member or official, including the Rector Rei Publicae - may propose legislation in the Senate"

MessageOOC: No, I meant precisely to exclude the Administrative Section from the law

MessageOOC: I think it's fine having it there, it makes RP sense to separate the government from the legislative in a presidential system.
