Bill: Common Sense Judicial Reforms
Details
Submitted by[?]: Socialist Party of Kalistan (SPoK)
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: October 4498
Description[?]:
The Socialist Party calls on all Deputies to work with us to restore Kalistan's traditional stances on Immigration and police Searches. 1) We are a nation of immigrants. Suggesting that we should use the power of the State to search for immigrants and then utilize public money to operate what are detention centers by a different name ("integration centers" are merely detention camps unless the immigrants may come and go as they please, a position not suggested by the law), then we are doing our national heritage a complete disservice. 2) We also call for the end to radical police searches. The Socialist Party takes a strong libertarian stance on law enforcement: It should only be used when imminent threat to life and liberty is present. And then sparingly, unless it is a last resort. Therefore, we are interested in curtailing the power of the police as much as possible. We thank the LDP for bringing attention to these relics of Police Statist Government established a few decades ago, and believe now is the time to reconsider them. |

Message | We disagree with articles 1 and 2. The first action committed by illegal immigrants when they come into our country is to break the law by not going through the system we have in place to weed out criminals, it's foolish ignore them and to allow them to live within the state when it's possible that one of them could be a Baltusian drug lord. Ignoring illegal immigrants would undermine our border checks, laws, and national security. As for article 2, this would increase the destruction of national emergencies, as it would decrease the the amount of people who could alleviate them. Message | To our Comrade, Abrahams, With respect, the term "illegal immigrant" is a red herring. There is no such thing as an "illegal" immigrant as all people are allowed to reside here legally. Painting foreigners as first, criminals, is quite frankly a scare tactic designed to whip folks into a Nativist frenzy. But to be fair, our goal with this legislation is to create an environment where Nativist Frenzies are not possible because nobody maintains that citizenship in Kalistan is like some sort of lottery to win. More broadly speaking, the Socialist Party takes a catholic approach to citizenship. Our goal is to make Kalistani citizens of the entire population of the planet. All are welcomed here, without harassment or discrimination. Because our ancestors were from across the face of our planet, no one group has a monopoly on the tile "Kalistani". Should social services extend to Kalistanis living in other nations then? Of course not. You must be a resident of Kalistan to claim those service. But we don't aim to discriminate, so we welcome all. As for Article 2, the mission of the police force and the military are fundamentally different. We should in no way expect the military to enforce the law than we should expect the police force to be in any way competent in maneuver and live fire necessary, as a minimum to adequately defend the Republic. The military is trained to kill, not negotiate. If you want more police during times of emergency, there is no law against deputizing the militia. As a matter of compromise, would our comrades in the NCP consider voting for the bill if we removed Article 1 and reintroduced it as its own bill, leaving this bill as current Articles 2, 3 and 4? - John Henry Bennots, Speaker of the SPoK |
