| The legislature affirms the goal that every family be able to afford a decent home in a suitable environment. Goals: (1) To help make neighborhoods safe and livable (2) To expand opportunities for homeownership (3) To encourage tenant empowerment and reduce generational poverty Removal of Barriers: (1) Encourage State and local governments to further identify and remove regulatory barriers to affordable housing (2) Strengthen the connection between Federal housing assistance and State and local efforts Housing Plan: (1) The Secretary of Health and Social Services (or whichever department the Head of Governmemt seems should handle housing issues) shall establish the first housing plan. (2) The Secretary shall revise and update any housing strategy after consulting and seeking input from citizens, government officials, and all congressional officials. Commission: (1) In the case that more resources or assistance is needed to tackled the housing crisis and affordable housing plan, a commission can be formed at the discretion of the respective secretary or the Head of Government. |
