𝐎𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐕𝐈𝐄𝐖 Luthori is, essentially, Particracy's equivalent of England. Think Blake's Jerusalem, this green and pleasant land, the country of long shadows on county grounds, warm beer, invincible green suburbs, and old maids bicycling to holy communion through the morning mist. Note that Luthori is England, not the United Kingdom - while there's some overlap, of course, the Celtic nations are Aloria (Welsh) and Kirlawa (Irish with a Scottish minority). Luthori could also be considered something of an English Holy Roman Empire, or an English version of the German Empire of 1871-1918. 𝐇𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐘 Like England and the United Kingdom, Luthori once had a vast colonial empire. Luthori's Golden Age began with the ascension of Good King Philip, the son of Mary I of Luthori and Philip II of Alduria, to both nation's thrones as Philip III & I. This is also the OOC explanation for why Luthori speaks English, given the previous lack of ties between the two countries and indeed the complete non-existence of French prior to the 19th century colonisation of southern Seleya by the Selucian Empire (the Roman Empire as a European colonial empire). Middle Luthorian (Anglish) was, due to the union, influenced by the Canrillaise language, resulting in the language's modern form. [...] [...] |
