Message | Article 4 is odd to us. We'll be abstaining unless the proposal is either removed or altered to voluntary association. |
Date | 05:37:10, April 12, 2019 CET | From | Democratic-Social Party | To | Debating the Welfare Reform Act |
Message | The bill was sent to the Social Services Committee by fifteen Representatives of the Socialist Workers Party and sponsored by other 58, including members of the Liberal National Party and the Social Democratic Party of Likatonia. Myself and other twenty Committee members deemed this bill, as well as all the bills recently proposed by the SWP, a little too extremist. We agree that certain reforms are necessary, and we are working to improve our welfare system. We asked the Budget Committee to perform and economic evaluation of what these changes would mean for our national economy. The Budget Committee's recommendation was to vote down the bill due to its high costs, which would require a 73% increase in income taxes and a 52% increase in luxury goods taxes. We do not want to raise taxes so high. Despite this report, the bill was voted into the floor's consideration. On behalf of the entire Social Services Committee, I recommend to vote "no" on this particular bill. Toby Green Social Services Committee Chair |
