Bill: Education Reform
Details
Submitted by[?]: Democratic Industrialists
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: February 2208
Description[?]:
Ladies and gentlemen, our nation represents a small population of the world, and at that, we also represent those of average intelligence. In order to have an educated workforce, we propose that education last longer and that it starts earlier. In order to compete with other, larger nations, we feel that having an educated public is not only a good idea, it is a necessary idea. This bill will create a system of preschools and increase the age that students remain in school. It will also provide money to those who wish to obtain a higher education. |

Message | "The commentators for the Democratic Industrialists ought to look at the national budget before submitting proposals like this. Pre-schools and nursuries owned by the government? Those are indoctrination creches and we disbanded them when the fascist government fell. Fully-subsidized tuition? An expense our small budget cannot bear. This proposal is foolhardy." -- Rufio Carmichael, backbencher (OOC - You should let proposals get debate for at least 24 hours before putting them to a vote. Thanks, and welcome!) |

Message | "The JAS are speechless at these proposals. I am their hired psychic translator and will address this congress. The idea of paying full tution is laughable. Not only does the national budget not support this, but it only hands additional freebies to the rich. Let those who are worthy gain their scholarships. Tutition is already a tax write off, let it remain at that. The JAS also not wish to further increase the budget simply to provide public owned nurseries. The private sectors does a wonderful job at maintaining these services. Further education is not required past a sucess 18 years of life. Civic Service often fill in any gaps left from education" Doctor Phool Mentalin - Psychic Translator for the JAS |

Random fact: By default the head of government is the ultimate authority within a national government. In general terms, heads of government are expected to consult with cabinet colleagues (including those from other parties) before making significant decisions but they remain responsible for government action. |
