Bill: Respect Bill

Details

Submitted by[?]: Duchy's People's Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: December 2209

Description[?]:

Is it just us or is there a lack of respect for the nation's national flag? Being Patriotic should be a valued asset of our Nation's identity, we should be proud of our nation. Therefore we cannot allow our flag to be disrespected in any manner at all. How do you expect other nations to take us seriously if we dont take ourselves seriously. Respect, its not much to ask.

MessageWe believe that the descration of our flag is a form of free speech and the right to protest. A flag is a symbol of the nation, if our people are upset with the government and our nation then descration the symbol of that is a direct form of communication to the government.

The government should be inspired to do better, not crack down with a frivious law that won't fix the actually problems.

Message"It is to the shame of my party that this bill went down in defeat. I never thought I would see the Christian Democrats organize themselves to vote against protecting the flag. The party has sold out to its coalition allies, and it will suffer for this behavior."

-- Rufio Carmichael, Minister of Foreign Affairs

Random fact: Party candidates for head of state elections are not visible to the public. This means that you cannot see who will run and who will not, which adds another strategic element to the elections.

Random quote: "A politician is an animal which can sit on a fence and yet keep both ears to the ground." - H.L. Mencken
