Bill: Higher Education Bill II

Details

Submitted by[?]: Neo-Marxist revolutionary Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: June 2073

Description[?]:

In order to further our belief that education should be available to all citizens we propose that the goverment should subsidize higher education to a certain degree; thus relieving these potential students and their families of a much larger debt than would be incurred if they were to pay for their entire tuition.

MessageWe would prefer to see a system where the government provides the costs of tuition and students are admitted solely on academic merit rather than any financial advantage...

MessageI think the PPP's reasoning is that higher education should be free to all. I in fact agree with this. However in reality as I have said earlier:
Until we know the economic state of the country, fully subsidizing education is not feasible. Moreover, it will be difficult to stop Universities from losing money on certain courses believed to be unpopular thus, the courses will shut down even though that course may be required in the long term.

MessageIt would be good if "higher education" was more clearly defined. If it means just high schools then they should be payed for by the state up to the age of 16 (at least) because thats how long children have to be educated for.

MessageNo higher education means universitys, colleges. A high school as I am aware of it, that type of school designation not being available in the country in which I reside, is further education. Moreover another one of our laws already states that compulsary education is free, so why would it refer to that?
