Bill: "Unrestricted Defence" Revisited Bill 4743

Details

Submitted by[?]: Beluzia Renewal Party (BRP)

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: August 4744

Description[?]:

The BRP is introducing this Bill due to the fact that the government of Beluzia has been in a state of limbo for a long time.

At the last election, although no party won an outright majority, the Reformed White Front did win the most seats.
This was despite only introducing one bill in the whole of its existence to date (concerning the granting of nobility).
The RWF also abstained on many (probably the majority of Bills which passed through Parliament).
However, it did vote in favour of a couple of Bills, one of which was this Bill - http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=621325
This "Unrestricted Defence Act" was proposed by the Beluzian Triumph League, who also have more seats than four other parties in Parliament.

The BRP is resurrecting this Bill, as the parties which voted in favour of that Bill, plus the one abstaining party, would now have a majority to pass this Bill into law if they all voted in favour now.

As the Articles included in this Bill have already been debated, it will be put to the vote immediately.

MessageTo reiterate what the BRP said during the debate on the original bill:

For both articles, the BRP would like Parliament and our people to understand:

We endorse the ABILITY to use the weapons, not the desire to.
More important is the deterrence effect possible ONLY if we possess a deterrent and if it is believed capable of being used.

The current policies disable BOTH elements of deterrence.

Random fact: Party candidates for head of state elections are not visible to the public. This means that you cannot see who will run and who will not, which adds another strategic element to the elections.

Random quote: "The strongest reason for people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government." - Thomas Jefferson
