Message | Mr. Speaker, Dear colleagues, Inequalities are increasing tremendously in this country following 20 years of right-wing governments. Education is now completely segregated. On one hand, we have poor families, who live in poor neighbourhoods with their children going to damaged, underfinanced and overcrowded schools. On the other hands, we have rich families, living in nice neighbourhoods, with their children going to luxurious schools with hot meals, renovated classes and expensive school trips. How can you tell me that all children have the same opportunities when there is no equality in the school system? How can you tell me everyone has a chance when only the richest benefit from those expensive schools. The solution is simple because the problem is capitalism. Education is a common good and shouldn't be in the hands of anyone other than the state. Peter Dalton, CPL MP. |
