Bill: Bill NLA-73 Economic Diversity Initiative

Details

Submitted by[?]: Progressive Democratic Alliance

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: August 2214

Description[?]:

Free trade, given our robust economy, could mean a more successful economy as well. If we stop charging tariffs on products passing through our border, we can effectively present the consumers of this nation with greater access to all items and products from around the world for the people to enjoy. This way, we become a nation which, as a whole, is more culturally aware of the world around it and can thus bring about goodwill and global unity.

The fact is, tariffs were originally created simply as a form of revenue and for nationalist purposes.

MessageFree trade hurts the poortest nations, we need fair trade not free trade, more over, why should we open our barriers to nations that have placed tariffs on our goods, we must be able to protect our work force and react if a tariff war does start and we are one of the targets, doing nothing will hurt our economy, and free trade on nations that put tariffs agaisnt us is unfair to our workers and will sink our economy, and the the party of economic responsibility in Darnussia, the SDP thinks that any attempt to bring in a sysytmre where we have free trade as an absolute will allow nations to abuse that and place tariffs on our goods, while we sell theirs in our country, which will mean our companies will be uncompetives and our companies will go under, which will cause greater unemployment and economic problems.

The current system protects us from tariffs, while allowing the free trade which you seem to want.

MessageWe must be able to protect ourselves against Tariffs against us, the current law is as a response if a nation does place a tariff against us, it allows us to respond against an attack on our economy, the new law leaves us open for nations to put tariffs on our goods, while selling their goods in our nation, putting our workers out of a job, our produce being uncompetive and our economy going down the drain, we must have the threat of tariffs for nations that tariff us

reciprocal tariffs are the root cause of WWII. Yes, I know WWII was caused by the NAzis and all that. But extremist movements like hte Nazis can only succeed in desperate nations, and it usually takes a nation in economc decline to be in those sorts of desperate straights.(One of the reason I argue that economics should take precedence over all other issues when voting, if a country has great wealth, then it likely will not have other problems) reciprocal tariffs hurt both countries involved.

IC: THe Religious Right party believes in protecting Darnussian industry. We stand by the current law!

MessageOOC: The PDA, of course, is correct. Even today the primary proponents of tariffs are the paleoconservative right and Trade Union left.

MessageOOC: Harldy any nations in the modern world are tariff free, America under the current President uses tariffs, the French has a tariff (CAP) Free Trade is only something the West uses to expolit the third world nations, and get the lowest price from them while protecting their own industries.

Fair Trade in my opinion the the way forward, people who produce the stuff getting paid for what they produce, that is why I only ever buy Fair Tade products

MessageOOC: The reason so few nations are tariffs-free are the groups discussed above. Free Trade results in a better economy for naall involved. The U.S. became the leading nation of the world due to the fact that it is the largest free trade zone in the entire world. Likewise, Europe was falling into disrepair, despite the U.S.'s best efforts, in the 70s and ressurected itself largely due to an expansion in free trade among European nations.
Fair trade is just an anchor for self-important celebrities like Angelina Jolie and Chris Martin to talk about.
