MessageMr Speaker,

By allowing the national government to control access to the internet, we allow room for government censorship of content not deemed in line with the government of the day. We must put a stop to this immediately.

MessageMr. Speaker,

The internet is an important medium for the exchange of information, culture and art. We must ensure that large, unaccountable corporation do not have too much influence on the content that is shared, or else we risk the suppression of certain viewpoints or works. The GDPH therefore opposes this motion.

MessageMr. Speaker,

To clarify, I understand there are to be concerns about censorship regardless of what form of ownership there is, but we can hold our government to account more directly than we can any corporation.
