Details

Submitted by[?]: Green National Party of Hutori

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: September 4758

Description[?]:

Mr. Speaker,

Gambling is an exploitative business which preys on the vulnerable and the poor to enrich wealthy casino owners. High-stakes gambling can ruin people's financial lives, leaving their families struggling to put food on the table.

Gambling addiction is a health crisis, and it should not be encouraged by our legislation. We must restrict gambling to low-stakes, private bets.

MessageMr. Speaker,

We do agree that gambling addiction should be considered as a health problem. However, banning all casinos altogether seems a bit too extreme. Restricting them would be a better idea. We will vote against.

We find ourselves agreeing with the Government. While we believe that some regulations should be brought into the Gaming Industry, we are against this level of government restrictions.

We do not regret the extent of the regulations we are proposing in this bill. Gambling is a threat to our most vulnerable people, and we must take serious measures to fight it.
