MessageMr Speaker,

The Republican Party believes it is imperative that the youth of this country have the ability to work and gain valuable experience prior to graduating school. However, we also do not wish to see children being exploited in the workplace. The Child Labor Act provides adequate protections meanwhile opening the opportunity for our youth to work. This is particularly important for those who may not end up going down the route of further study. This work experience could provide the door to landing a full-time job straight out of school. We hope the other parties of the Senate will support this piece of legislation and are open to reasonable amendments.

MessageMr. Speaker,

We would like to request amendments to this bill that would prevent employers from making children work from 10pm to 6am and from working during school hours and raising the age used to characterize a person as a child for the purposes of this bill to anyone under the age of 18 since students are required to stay in school until they are 18 and we would like if these protections would apply to them too.

Random quote: "The first step in freeing yourself from social restrictions is the realization that there is no such thing as a 'safe' code of conduct, one that would earn everyone's approval. Your actions can always be condemned by someone, for being too bold or too apathetic, for being too conformist or too nonconformist, for being too liberal or too conservative. So it's necessary to decide whose approval is important to you." - Harry Browne
