Message | Mr. Speaker, The Worker's League of Hutori will not support this bill as it is currently written. For one, the Senate has passed a bill proposed by our party regarding our nation's trade policy, the Ethical Trade Act, very recently, which already helps protect our industries and workers. Secondly, Article 2 of this bill would go against the humanitarian nature of foreign aid. Foreign aid serves to help these poorer countries develop and thrive and improve their citizens' lives, not as a bargaining chip in the game of realpolitik. Lastly, Article 1 would isolate us from the international community. Diplomatic immunity exists to ensure that diplomats are not used as hostages when tensions are high between nations. If we do not grant this privilege to other nations' diplomats, they will not trust us enough to establish embassies in our nation, cutting us off from the world. Hon. Nathan DeLaurier, Senator for Port Prosperity Centre, Leader of the Worker's League of Hutori |

Message | Mr. Speaker, We would like to correct ourselves on the first point we brought up. The Senate did not pass the Ethical Trade Act. However, the WLH still supports the policy outlined in the Ethical Trade Act and does not believe that the trade policy that the Popular Party proposes would be beneficial to our workers and our country's economic growth. Hon. Nathan DeLaurier, Senator for Port Prosperity Centre, Leader of the Worker's League of Hutori |
