FDS - O believes Federace Deltarsks should consider withdrawing from this treaty . FDS - O is very much inclined to follow the recommendation of the Foreign Office.

It seems to us the language suggesting members should be communist states is now inappropriate for us. On the other hand, it may be the Foreign Office believes a mutual defense treaty with the parties to the treaty is very valuable despite the language.

MessageMr. Speaker

It is our judgment Federace Deltarska should withdraw from this treaty as no longer relevant. Should the Foreign Office choose to take a position we will likely follow it. In any event witfhdrawal requires an actual majority of this chamber so we will see what happens.

MessageMr. Speaker,

Setting aside the immediate benefits of continuing membership in the Pact, must we so hastily forget the basic principle of this? Deltaria is no longer a communist nation and the Deltarian people have deigned to recognize the threat communism poses. The validity of withdrawing from the pact is not something that should be disputed - something I appreciate Mr. Smutny recognizing - but so is the amorality of entering into a separate agreement with extant parties to the treaty.
