Message | Mr. Speaker, I rise today to table Bill C-201: Provincial Energy Management Act. This legislation would transfer the management of all energy grid infrastructure to the provinces. Provincial governments are better suited to identify and act on their local energy needs. I hope all parties will join us and pass this Bill. Sheryl Matthews MP for Dalry Springs PC Shadow Minister for Infrastructure & Transport |

Message | Mr. Speaker The National Power Grid, is kept under federal regulation for matters of national security and the national interest. By being able to regulate the six power grids that make up Hutori's energy infrastructure, we are able to ensure sufficient power supply throughout the entire nation. Power supply itself is already provided for by both a mix of provincial Crown Corporations and private power companies that are able to operate not just within their own local grids, but across provincial borders thanks to our regulations. Let us be clear; there is no National Crown Corporation or monopoly on Hutorian power, merely government regulation of the total national grid. Hon. Eric Banfield Minister of Infrastructure and Transportation MP for Sutton Polaris |
