MessageMr. Speaker,

The LCP wishes to note the difference between giving the national government a greater role in the operation of airports and turning all airports over to the national government, and suggest that a better policy would be "The government has some involvement in the ownership and operation of airports, but leaves a role for the private sector too".

MessageMr Speaker,

We feel that this is I'll thought through. The Provinces all have different requirements, a standardised service will not ensure each region gets what it needs.

MessageMr. Speaker,

The provinces' different needs are where the private sector's role comes in. The amendment to the bill solves that problem, in our view.

MessageMr Speaker,

Take the needs of remote rural sections of our population. Does anyone believe that the private sector will solve the needs of isolated rural communities that depends upon fragile and non-profitable air links of communication? Will the federal government understand these better, or the Provincial governments? The current policy is the best for all communities in Mordusia. The proposed system will work best for the major cities and the profitable airports, to the detriment of more isolated communities.
