(This bill was proposed by the Minister of Trade and Industry Jonathan Harkness) It is our duty to fight the fundemental inequalities of tour society. Message | Mr. Speaker, The Liberals are opposed to this intervention. But, we are also opposed to the current law. We believe it would be more fitting for the government not to take a stance here. That way, private companies can encourage the use of quotas and maintain their own quotas if they wish. We would also back a policy where the government encourages the hiring of these groups, and does it for government offices, but does not mandate it for the private sector. If the NPP rams this through before the next election, The Liberals will work to amend this legislation after the election. Jeremy McCarry MP for Carter City Skyview Leader of the Liberal Party |

Message | mr. speaker although I too believe in workplace equality dont you think an anti-discrimination department would be better than just flat requirements? |

Message | Mr. Speaker, Even if we would consider that this kind of policy would require some teeth in order to work properly, like actually mandating more equity in the private sector, we see the necessity for compromise. We are ready to test a more moderate version of this bill to see if this would work. However, may it be clear that if we found out that this more moderate bill does not provide the expected result, we will go back to pushing for a for agressive mandate. We have modify the bill accordingly and will be putting it up to vote soon. -Jonathan Harkness Minister of Trade and Industry MP for Daily North |

Random fact: "OOC", "IC" and "IG" are commonly-used acronyms in Particracy. "OOC" refers to comments, discussions and actions which are out-of-character, meaning they are done player-to-player rather than party-to-party. "IC" refers to in-character interactions (ie. party-to-party). Similarly, "IG" means in-game, although this term may also simply refer to what happens in the actual game interface, as opposed to on the forum or elsewhere. "RP" just means "role-play". |
Random quote: "The first step in freeing yourself from social restrictions is the realization that there is no such thing as a 'safe' code of conduct, one that would earn everyone's approval. Your actions can always be condemned by someone, for being too bold or too apathetic, for being too conformist or too nonconformist, for being too liberal or too conservative. So it's necessary to decide whose approval is important to you." - Harry Browne |
