Bill: Freedom for Public Officials to Wear Religious Symbols

Details

Submitted by[?]: United Mordusia Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: July 5125

Description[?]:

Mordusia is a country that values the importance of religious freedom.

However, as the law stands it is forbidden for a public official to wear religious symbols whilst on duty. How does this represent the people? They deserve this right. Who is being harmed in letting other people express their faith?

MessageMr. Speaker,

People can express their faith under the current law, but it prevents judges, for instance, from showing Hosian symbols when trying atheists, which, in a nation where one of the two major parties has repeatedly expressed its intention to criminalize non-Hosian beliefs and practices, would quite reasonably have an unfairly distracting and frightening effect on the defendants. As such, the current law is better than the proposed change.
