Bill: Right to Our Organs Bill

Details

Submitted by[?]: Drake Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: April 2232

Description[?]:

A person should have control over their body, even in death. Our current policy assumes everyone wants to donate their organs. The Drake Party believes that this discriminates against those that are poor and uneducated that may not have access to or the knowledge to know how to prevent the harvesting of their organs. If we educate our citizenry, We are sure many will choose to donate but we should assume until that decision is officially made that one wishes to keep their body intact even in death. Consent would be able to be given during application for government id or renewal of the id. Also a person cold fill out an application at their local government office if they did not wish to have an id or have their lawyer draw up the appropriate documents in cases where the person may not travel to a government office. Those who consent would be entered into a database that hospitals would have easy real time access too. In the case of minors, their guardians would have the say in their organ donation

MessageI have to say that I have often called for the current version of this proposal to be written into law or to remain in effect, but your argument has definately shown me the perspective I've been missing all this time.

There's still time for me to be convinced otherwise, but for now I will support this bill.
