(This bill was proposed by the MP for Acton Don Valley East Dan Lewis) Fire prevention is a serious issue that needs to be addressed rationally. Message | Mr Speaker, Contrary to what the Opposition says, this bill is dangerous to fire management. The opposition wants to centralise our fire departments which will result in even poorer fire management as those in charge will be far removed from what is happening on the ground. It should be up to Local Governments as they are in a better place to understand what the needs are for fire departments in their particular areas. The Oppsition and their ideological bedfellows in the Government have a duopoly of control over all Local Governments in Hutori. Why can’t they trust their own representatives in local governments to provide for their fire departments? Message | Mr. Speaker, The people who manage the fire prevention department don't have to be far from the action. We can work with local representative and local authorities to to better organise your fire prevention effort in localities. This bill is not, as the MP from Isle of Sutton Eastern Shore would portray it, an attack on local government or a questioning of their aptitude to manage the region. No, it's rather a call for a better management of fire prevention on the national level that ensure that no region of Hutori is left being. We should not be naive and take for granted that everything is going fine everywhere. Some regions have gaps in their fire prevention system and the national government should be there to helps, to handle things correctly. -Dan Lewis MP for Acton Don Valley East |
