| The Rt Hon. Elisa Tarren, previous leader of the Liberal Socialist Party, has resigned today after a crushing defeat in her party’s polls of only 38% saying she should remain LSP leader. Hence, she has made the decision to resign as party leader, but not from the House of Commons.Her resignation speech was this: “Dear colleagues, I have greatly enjoyed my time as LSP leader, and I sincerely hope that I have been as progressive in the minds of others as in my own. I do, however, believe that it is time for me to move on. Recrimination and blame have been rather present at recent LSP member meetings, which saddens me greatly. I am disheartened by my fellow party members and hope the best for the future of the LSP. I have spoken with His Majesty to announce my resignation. Thank you.” Megan North will become the new LSP leader after winning polls with 68% against Dominic Woltonbury. |
