| (This bill was proposed by the Senator for Kincardine North John Hickel) While we support religious freedom, we do not believe that religious groups should be able to use their influence and resources to promote their beliefs to the general public. Religious groups often have significant resources and influence, which can give them an unfair advantage in promoting their beliefs to the public. This can lead to vulnerable individuals being targeted or coerced into joining a group, which can have negative consequences for their mental and emotional well-being. It is important to note that often, major organised religion engage in aggressive or deceptive promotion tactics that target vulnerable people or that seek to convert people from other religions or belief systems. Of course, promotion of one's belief on individual level should be permitted as to not impared personnal religious freedom. But on a more major scale, religious organization should not be permitted to advertise themselves. |
