| 15 June 5367 Today, main opposition leader Ralph Henry calls for unity between all opposition parties and urges the Workers' Party, Rapture Alliance, and National Liberation Front to band together as a united force to defend Luthori from the "authoritarian misrule" of CDU and FF. According to him, such an alliance is not an option but an obligation if the opposition wants to defeat the government, and he also says that a fragmented opposition will benefit the ruling parties. The full text of his speech was: "Luthori is now going through not very good times, and the current regime continues to attack the judicial independence and political pluralism. This is not governance, this is misgovernance, this is misrule, and all opposition parties should unite to crush this regime in the upcoming parliamentary and local elections. We should together protect liberal democracy, independent judiciary, and political pluralism, and we should seek to defeat this regime through all legal means possible. We should not let them take away our beloved democracy! As the main opposition leader, I call all other opposition leaders to understand the dangerous cliff that Luthori is being pushed by the current far-right regime. We should be a parachute in order to stop the deadly fall of democracy, we should be a beacon of hope for democratization and political pluralism, and then a plane to restore the democracy to its old place. The authoritarian misrule by the so-called 'Constitutional Democratic' Union and by the 'Fatherland Front' will not end unless we do something. We should not just watch what is happening and we should work out ways to stop this. I have been working out ways to defeat the current regime, and my idea is to form an electoral alliance that would bring Socialist Liberal Party, Workers' Party, Rapture Alliance, National Liberation Front together as a united force against this regime. We will submit a unified ticket to the ducal elections, but the party tickets in the national level will be separate. If another leader has a better idea, they could share with the others and me in order to work out the best way for opposition unity. We should definitely do something, we should not just watch what is happening, and the dangers of this regime are getting huge. I propose the name 'Together For Democracy' for such an alliance. This name is reflective of the purpose of the alliance, but again, if another leader has a better name in their mind, they could share it with the others, in order to work out better names. This alliance should give hope to Luthorian voters and we should be able to convince the people that we can stop the current democratic crisis, and therefore the alliance should not be established upon any single ideology. The ideology that the alliance should be built is liberal democracy, nothing else. The member parties could espouse ideologies ranging from the right to the left - this should not be an obstacle. We should be the new hope, we should be the new way for a better, democratic, and free Luthori! Do not get upset if the alliance is defeated in the 5370 elections, then we will look for our mistakes and work out better campaigns and ways to spread our message. This is not an option but a duty for all opposition leaders, and if we fail to fulfill this duty, the ruling parties will benefit from it. Never forget, if we band together as a united force, we are stronger! And by uniting we will maximize our chance of defeating this regime and turning the page for a brighter future!" |
