--OVERVIEW--

Pontesi is based primarily on Armenia. The majority of the population is Arev Mardik (Armenian) and in Luthorian the term "Pontesian" is often used specifically to refer to this group. The second-largest group in the country is Seluco-Pontean (Roman Armenian) people. Among this group, there are many who identify as being both Seluco-Pontean and Arev Mardik.

Jelbic people arrived and settled in Pontesi over five thousand years ago, arriving from northern Seleya. Unlike many other in-game groups, the Jelbic people do not have a single real-life equivalent. Jelbic culture is based on aspects of various Eurasian peoples. The most important influences are Turkic peoples, Mongol peoples and Uralic peoples. Jelbic people speak a fictional, constructed language (see below for more information on language). Jelbic people are divided into particular ethnic groups. In Pontesi, the two most significant groups are Pnték people and Brmék people. Each group speaks a distinct dialect of the Jelbic language.

--RELIGION--

Within the structure of the Aurorian Patriarchal Church, Pontesi is part of the Patriarchate of the East and uses the Pontesian (Armenian) rite. Feminism is a fictional form of polytheistic animalism based on the divinity of cats.

» Hosianism (Christianity)- 72%
-- Aurorian Patriarchal Church (Armenian Catholic Church)- 42%
-- Terran Patriarchal Church (Eastern Orthodox Church with aspects of Slavic mythology)- 30%
» Religio Seluciana (Roman Polytheism)- 14%

» Yeudism (Judaism)- 3%
» No religion- 2%

--LANGUAGE--

Pontesian (Armenian) is the most widely-spoken language in the country and it is the first language of the overwhelming majority of Arev Mardik (Armenian) people. It is also the first language of most Seluco-Pontean (Roman Armenian) people but a significant minority speak Selucian (Latin).

Pnték is a constructed language that draws inspiration from a number of real-life languages. The syntax and grammar of the language is based on Japanese. The vocabulary is drawn from various languages, including Czech, Dutch, German, Slovak and the Turkic languages. For information about the language, please consult the “Expanded Jelbic Dictionary” bill (http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=387061) and the “Jelbic Dictionary” wiki page (https://particracy.fandom.com/wiki/Jelbic_Dictionary). Ethnic minority groups generally speak their native languages, such as Majatran (Arabic), Deltarian (Serbo-Croatian) and Augustan (Esperanto).

Random quote: "The problem is big government. If whoever controls government can impose his way upon you, you have to fight constantly to prevent the control from being harmful. With small, limited government, it doesn't much matter who controls it, because it can't do you much harm." - Harry Browne
