Message | Well, technically putting up a sign in front of your shop is advertising, as is word of mouth, you'd have to ban that, and often the product itself is advertisement for repeat business... how far would you like to go? |

Message | I wouldn't go as far as to prohibit advertising, just to regulate it. It's often that a superior campaign promotes an inferior item. An excellent example would be several years ago...Sony supported BetaMax, an alternate to the VHS cassette. BetaMax was a far superior product to VHS, yet through better advertising the VHS cassette is utilized today instead of the better product. |

Message | So, you would regulate advertising to ensure only the superior products receive superior advertising? |

Message | No, I'd like all advertising to be equal. Now, I realize that sounds Communist, but there's an idea behind that. There should be a limit on how much can be spent on advertising. This allows the 'small guy' in privatization to still have as much of a chance as the international conglomerate. Now, if the international conglomerate utilizes that limit better than the small guy does, that's not our issue. After all, the regulation IS in place. |
