Bill: [OOC/RP] - Ducal Supreme Court Members List (5463-5478)

Details

Submitted by[?]: Labour Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: April 5522

Description[?]:

A list of Ducal Supreme Court judges, with their political views in square brackets. In OOC terms, the judges will be controlled by the players whose parties are closest to the ideological affiliations of them, in cases of overlap then it will be collectively decided by those players. This will be used in RP events that involve the Ducal Supreme Courts.

4 of judges are appointed on advice of the Minister-President and their cabinet, 3 on the advice of Ducal Leader of the Opposition and their shadow cabinet, and 5 by an independent commission comprising legal experts (magistrates, lawyers, retired judges etc.). The appointments are subject to the approval of another independent commission in order to ensure that the proposed judges in the list have enough expertise and also to avoid political affiliation imbalance.

The first 4 of the list is the judges appointed on advice of the Minister-President, the middle 3 of the list is the judges appointed on advice of Ducal Leader of Opposition, and the last 5 is the judges appointed on advice of an independent commission.

Random fact: "OOC", "IC" and "IG" are commonly-used acronyms in Particracy. "OOC" refers to comments, discussions and actions which are out-of-character, meaning they are done player-to-player rather than party-to-party. "IC" refers to in-character interactions (ie. party-to-party). Similarly, "IG" means in-game, although this term may also simply refer to what happens in the actual game interface, as opposed to on the forum or elsewhere. "RP" just means "role-play".

Random quote: "The man who prefers his country before any other duty shows the same spirit as the man who surrenders every right to the state. They both deny that right is superior to authority." - John Dalberg-Acton
