Bill: Energy Deregulation
Details
Submitted by[?]: Freedom and Justice Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: July 2260
Description[?]:
To promote investment, capital formation and entrepeneurship so as to fully satisfy the needs of consumers in energy, the Freedom and Justice Party proposes deregulation, denationalization and freedom of enterprise in the energy sector. All tax favors and subsidies should be eliminated- if we want to make things easier for energy enterprise, we should lower taxes altogether to allow all enterprise to keep more of their produce, as opposed to taking from Joe's widget shop to give to Jack's power plant. We can thus end politicization of power so as to allow for maximum efficiency. Additionally, the national power infrastructure should be put into private hands, so as to use the abilities of entrepeneurs to interpret market signals to determine the best allocation of resources to satisfy consumer demand and gain maximum benefit for minimum cost. Additionally, price ceilings on energy will only result in less energy being sold, as marginal cost of selling energy will more easily outrun marginal benefit, which is artificially lowered. By taking power over power out of the government's hands, the Dolgarian Empire will be all the stronger. |

Message | Ridiculous! Does anyone really believe that dividing resources among many competitors, each working to crush all the others, will result in greater efficiency? The Freedom and Justice Party is talking moonshine. Cooperation is a Dolgarian moral value! |

Message | Nah, LPP has proven its capability to compromise and understand SDU's positions... Concerning energy. We will soon present a new bill to re-introduce public funds and management as a fully privatized system is not a good solution for something as vital as energy. |
