Bill: Combat Arms Segregation Act (IPP)

Details

Submitted by[?]: Imperial Democratic Coalition

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: September 2262

Description[?]:

The IPP approaches this from a practical perspective. We believe that desegregated combat units within the Imperial Armed Forces contributes to inefficiency. Combat judgment might be clouded where members of the opposite sex are involved, and, it adds an unwanted element of sexuality to regular military life. Surely the Empire would wish to maximise the efficiency and reliability of the Armed Forces, and we believe that segregation of combat positions would aid in this. This does not discriminate against any group of people, it will simply enhance the capability of our military.

However, we see no need for such an arrangement in the non-combat arms. (By combat arms, we mean combat units - infantry, armour, aerial - and combat support units - combat engineering, artillery, signals.) There is no need to extend this policy to the non-combat arms - intelligence, administration, logistics/transport, medical.

We'd like to know whether any other parties would support this.

Article Additional:

Section 1: Segregation of the sexes only applies to the Combat & Combat Support Arms, not to the Non-combat Arms of the Armed Forces.
