Bill: National Voting Day
Details
Submitted by[?]: Free Beluzians
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: May 2073
Description[?]:
That the total percentage of citizens voting in the last electrion has hit an all time low; That many reasons given for this lack of voting were that they could not reach the polls; That we really need more national holidays anyhow; We propose the creation of a new National Holiday for voting, during which all citizens not on duty for police work, emergency services, and the like shall be given the entire day off to vote. During the day, political leadership at the Local, Provencial, and National level should engage in debates, discussing topics of contention, and otherwise try to inform the citizens what they would be voting on. Those government employees unable to vote due to duties for police and emergency services shall be able to register their votes at their central work locations throughout the day. |

Message | Would it not be better if the day for general discussion by politicians (a good idea btw) was a day or two before the vote - therefore letting people mull over what they have heard? |

Message | The FBP would be shocked if the other parties did not already do that, at least at the local level. The events on National Voting Day would be the last chance for politicians to swing voters their direction, as opposed to the only time. |

Message | Agreed. However many business' cannot afford to not open, i.e bakeries, butchers, newsagents and the like, so we believe that exceptions should be given to this bill. OR a way of getting around this would be to have all business' (of those stated above) close early so as to allow their employees the ability to vote. |
